ALLIED WORKERS FOR THE BLIND MINUTES

Minutes for January 3, 2014

Meeting was called to order by President William Hawkins at 7:53 p.m.
President Hawkins led the assembly in Lord’s Prayer.

18 members and one visitor were present.

Recording Secretary Bill Reynolds made a motion to approve the minutes for October and November motion was approved by the assembly.

Treasurer's Report: There was no report because the Treasurer was out town.

Public Relations and Media chairperson Tracy Hawkins reported 5 kids from Missouri Valley School was adopted for Christmas. Motion was made for what was not collected at meeting the rest would come out Public Relations Budget. Motion was accepted by assembly and passed.

Transportation and Communication chairperson Ricky Hampton reported 8 riders and 3 vehicles.

Membership Committee chairperson Norman Burke-Yale reported there was no report.

Activities Committee chairperson Brandi Jones reported they are looking at a couple of tours for us to take.

Special Services Committee chairperson Cheryl Anthony reported there was no report.

Health Benefits Jackie Lars reported there was no report.

Education and Welfare Committee chairperson Eldon Cox reported that Legislative Days will be in March or April.

Corresponding Secretary Barbara Dewberry reported there was 1 birthday in December and 2 in January.

Fundraising Committee reported that nut sales went well. We sold 537 bags for a net profit of $1,055.50. We will be checking on an Applebee’s fundraiser and will bring it back to the assembly in February.

MCB Board report was given by President William Hawkins. He said he couldn’t give us much because the Board Meeting was a closed session. The blind pension has set up two numbers to call to see if are able to get it. The 24 hour number is 1-800-329-1261.

The thrift store in Springfield Missouri is doing great.

New Business
It was brought up that we need a roster with e-mail addresses added to it.

Motion was made to adjourn and assembly accepted.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
